Zero-Waste (follow your passion)

It's not a fad--it's real. It's time to put more effort into eating food by cooking your own from scratch and reducing waste while you’re at it. Making time to use less resources is a priority, and not having time is no longer an excuse!When I heard about Nikon’s movie contest for the concept "Follow Your Passion," I was so excited. I wanted to use this opportunity to share my passion, and reach more people (at least the Nikon judges). I already knew what my passion was and just had to figure out how to present it beautifully. Zero-waste cooking has been my passion for a long time, and two years ago, I created a blog and YouTube channel to share ways of cooking simple vegetarian meals with minimal ingredients & less waste. Without a background in photography & videography, I started to teach myself from scratch using a phone camera. As time went by, I learned how using a good camera and lens gives me more creative control and can better inspire viewers. I decided to buy an entry-level Nikon DSLR and started making videos with it. I was very happy with the results, but later I upgraded to the new Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera, which I am using here with an older Nikkor zoom lens.There are many things I'm passionate about, but seeing so much garbage from food preparation convinced me to take action now. I want to help create a healthy planet we can live on happily first. Then with a healthy planet, we all can follow any passions we want.It's very exciting to share my passion with you, and I hope it inspires you too.This video is for my Nikon "Follow Your Passion" contest entry. It is not sponsored or otherwise affiliated.Camera: Nikon Z6 with Nikkor AF-D 35-70 f/2.8 Zoom LensMusic:First part:Song: Fantaisie, Op.79-Andantino by Lydia J. 6. Winner Determination: After the Contest Period, a panel of qualified judges determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion will select the three (3) Entrants with the highest-scoring Submissions out of a total of 100 points (the "Finalists") from among all eligible Submissions based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”):

  • Creativity/Originality (35 points);

  • Quality of Submission (35 points); and

  • Fit to Contest Theme (30 points)

The Finalist with the highest score based on the Judging Criteria will be deemed the potential Grand Prize winner. The Finalists with the Second and Third highest scores respectively based on the Judging Criteria will be deemed the respective potential First and Second Prize winners. In the event of a tie, the Entrant whose Submission received the highest score for Creativity/Originality, as determined by the qualified judges, in their sole discretion, will be deemed the applicable Finalist or potential winner. Sponsor reserves the right to select fewer than three (3) Finalists, if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive at least twenty five (25) eligible and qualified Submissions. Public comments or indicators of which Theme Videos are liked by visitors of the Contest Website will have no bearing on winner determination and will not be taken into account by the judges.

7. Winner Requirements: Potential winners will be notified by email, mail or phone on or around October 2, 2019. Except where prohibited, each potential winner (or parent/legal guardian if a minor in his/her state of residence) will be required to sign and return a Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release and W-9 tax form, which must be received by Administrator within seven (7) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim the prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to execute and return the Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release and W-9 tax form or provide any other requested information within the required time period, does not comply with these Official Rules, or a prize is returned as undeliverable, then the potential winner forfeits the prize. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, the prize may be awarded to a runner-up, if any, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Only three (3) alternate winners may be determined, after which the applicable prize will remain un-awarded. Prizes will be fulfilled within eight (8) weeks after the end of the Contest Period.

Acceptance of any prize shall constitute and signify each winner’s agreement and consent that the Nikon Parties may non-exclusively reproduce, modify, post, publish, edit, display and/or otherwise use the winner’s name, city, state, likeness, Theme Video, Unedited Image, and/or prize information, in whole or in part, for promotional, marketing and/or publicity purposes and/or otherwise in connection with either the Contest and/or the Nikon Z-Series Camera, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed including but not limited to websites, social media pages, paid digital advertising, in emails, for in-store point of purchase videos, and/or at trade shows and events, without any compensation, notification, permission or other consideration, except where prohibited by law. If requested, Entrant will sign any releases and/or other documentation that may be required for Sponsor or its designees to make use of the rights Entrant is granting to use the Submission.

Each winner accepts and acknowledges that Sponsor shall not be obligated to use the Submission or any part thereof, and that Sponsor in its sole discretion shall have the right to refrain from using the Submission. Sponsor shall not incur any liability whatsoever to the extent Sponsor chooses to refrain from any exploitation of its rights hereunder.
